Washington State’s National parks, specifically Mount Rainier National Park, are home to some of the most photogenic and impressive peaks in the Pacific Northwest. Mount Rainier is a wilderness playground of beautiful hikes, layers of mountain peaks, wildflowers, and changing weather conditions, and we cannot wait to visit the area again and again.
Here’s a collection of our favourite photographs from Washington State Volcanoes.
The first drive to Mt. Saint Helens is a truly unforgettable experience. The closer we got to the mountain, the more noticeable the damage left from the eruption from thirty years prior became. The violent eruption has created the fertile grounds that give way to some of the most colourful and abundant wildflowers every summer. The St. Helens volcano is the perfect background to these gorgeous Indian Paintbrush flowers in the image below.
This was the sunrise we witnessed after a particularly cold night in the mountains. A cold and foggy night was worth it after getting these vibrant colors the next morning during sunrise.
A painterly sunrise in Mount Rainier National Park. We used our telephoto lens to focus in on the layers, and to accentuate the pink sky in the background.
